Interactive Connections Ltd is dedicated to providing training and resources to help children and young people. It focuses particularly on good practice in autism and developing emotional well being for all children and young people. The principal trainer for Interactive Connections Ltd is Dr. Caroline Smith who has spent over 30 years working with children both as a teacher and psychologist.
Caroline currently provides freelance training for The National Portage Association (NPA), The National Autistic Society (NAS) and The National Association for Special Education Needs (NASEN). Caroline has developed her interest in childhood well-being by becoming a licensed accredited trainer of the FRIENDS and Fun Friends programmes which are recognised by the World Health Organisation (WHO) as effective approaches in childhood anxiety. Having obtained her doctorate in 1999 on 'The development and evaluation of additional training for Portage Workers in addressing the needs of children with complex social and communication difficulties / autistic spectrum disorders', Caroline has written widely for journals relating to autism and educational psychology in practice, more recently having an article accepted for Context, the magazine for Family Therapists. Other publications include working with a team on the drafting of SIP – Sensory Interactive Profile – an assessment tool for children with profound and multiple difficulties (available from the National Portage Association www.portage.org.uk), Writing and Developing Social Stories (Published by Speechmark www.speechmark.net) and the Venturing into Play Profile (Published by Interactive Connections Ltd) The combination of practice based on sound theoretical knowledge matched with a clear communication style makes her publications practical and useful for a wide range of professionals. copyright © 2006 by Caroline.R.Smith |
